Born in Rome, Italy, Leonardo graduated in guitar from the Conservatory "Luca Marenzio" of Brescia, under the guidance of Gianluigi Fia, one of the Italian pupils of Andrès Sègovia, and studied classical composition with dodecaphonic composer Giancarlo Facchinetti.
In 1997, he was awarded the Prize "Lorenzo Il Magnifico" in the music section of the Biennale of Florence, and in 2003 he won the first prize at the Benelux International Song Expo for composing and performing the best instrumental piece.
After being invited to London by the director/producer Julia Taylor-Stanley ("These Foolish Things"), he had the chance to meet pianist/composer Guy Dagul (former orchestrator for Trevor Jones on Hollywood scores such as "The Last of the Mohicans", "In the Name of the Father", "Cliffhanger"), who introduced Leonardo to the world of film/Tv music.
Since then, Leonardo has composed and produced scores for documentaries and Tv programs broadcast by the History Channel, RAI Educational, PBS/Nova, Channel 5, TSI, UK Living, SKY, and has collaborated with institutions in the world of fashion, art, and publishing such as Italian Vogue, Triennale di Milano, Harper Collins Publishers and the RCS Group.
As performer and guitarist, Leonardo has appeared at many prestigious venues, including the Ronnie Scott's Club in London, Trafalgar Square, the Capolinea Club in Milan, the Biennale of Florence, Villa Madama in Rome, and the Nanning International Folk Song Arts Festival in China, where he performed in November 2006, representing England.
He has also recently been chosen by guitar maker Godin to be one of his endorsee artists, appearing in Godin's international artist list next to names such as Al DiMeola, Brian May, Paco de Lucia and others.
Besides numerous productions for the media, Leonardo's catalog includes several songs , pieces for guitar, and a suite for orchestra.
